Welcome to the CDM Rulebook
Current to EB 66 - Latest Developments
The Board has adopted the Clean development mechanism project standard (PS), the Clean development mechanism validation and verification standard (VVS) and the Clean development mechanism project cycle procedure (PCP) which together consolidate existing rules and procedures into three core documents:
- The PS contains requirements for project participants to comply with in designing as well as in implementing any type of CDM project activity and programme of activities (PoAs).
- The VVS clarifies, consolidates and enhances the consistency of all the existing regulatory decisions of the board that relate to validation and verification of project activities.
- The PCP consolidates all procedural provisions relating to the project cycle under the CDM.
At EB 66 the Board also approved a new Methodological Tool for the Assessment of the validity of the original/current baseline and update of the baseline at the renewal of the crediting period, which clarifies the procedures for evaluating and modifying the baselines at the renewal of a crediting period.
At EB 66 the Board also approved a new Glossary of CDM Terms which includes a new abbreviations/acronyms table and a new format which is designed to improve readability and usefulness.
At EB 66 the Board also approved a new General Principles for Bundling which provides project participants with requirements and guidance in bundling proposed small-scale CDM project activities.
About the CDM Rulebook
We recommend that users new to the CDM begin with the annotated Article 12 section or the Overview of the CDM. More experienced users can navigate directly to the relevant section, using the flowchart to the right, the tabs above, or the search function.
The site is updated after each Executive Board meeting and meetings of the COP/MOP. The overall currency of the site is indicated by the reference to the relevant Executive Board meeting as specified in the far right of the top menu bar ("Current to EBXX").
Please note that there are no hard copy versions of the CDM Rulebook and there is no 'print all' function on the site. This is both for environmental reasons (to discourage the unnecessary use of paper, since when printed the site is over 1000 pages long) and for currency reasons (the site will be updated monthly after each Executive Board meeting, so a hard copy version would quickly become out of date).
