Verification of bundled SSC A/R projects
Small-scale afforestation and reforestation (SSC A/R) projects are entitled to be bundled for the purposes of verification, provided that the size of the total bundle does not exceed the limits established for SSC A/R projects:
Project activities may be bundled or portfolio-bundled at the following stages in the project cycle: the project design document, validation, registration, monitoring, verification and certification. The size of the total bundle should not exceed the limits stipulated in paragraph 1 (i) of the modalities and procedures for afforestation and reforestation project activities under the CDM (6/CMP.1, Annex, paragraph 1(a)).
Those limits, which are set out in 5/CMP.1, Annex, paragraph 1(i), are as follows:
"Small-scale afforestation and reforestation project activities under the CDM" are those that are expected to result in net anthropogenic greenhouse gas removals by sinks of less than 8 kilotonnes of CO2 per year (5/CMP.1, Annex, paragraph 1(i)).
If a bundle meets this requirement, a single verification report can be produced for all SSC A/R projects within a registered bundle, provided that the bundled projects are using an overall monitoring plan. This rule is set out in 4/CMP.1, Annex II, paragraph 19:
If bundled project activities are registered with an overall monitoring plan, this monitoring plan shall be implemented and each verification/certification of the emission reductions achieved shall cover all of the bundled project activities (6/CMP.1, Annex, paragraph 11).
