Baseline net greenhouse gas removals by sinks
Baseline net greenhouse gas removals by sinks is defined as follows:
"Baseline net greenhouse gas removals by sinks" is the sum of the changes in carbon stocks in the carbon pools within the project boundary that would have occurred in the absence of the afforestation or reforestation project activity under the clean development mechanism (CDM) (5/CMP.1, Annex, paragraph 1(c)).
Emission reductions that are attributable to an afforestation or reforestation (A/R) project activity (also known as net anthropogenic greenhouse gas removals by sinks) are calculated based on the following formula:
Emission reductions = actual net greenhouse gas removals by sinks - baseline net greenhouse gas removals by sinks - leakage
