Using this site

The CDM Rulebook is a database of the sources of law for the CDM, including Article 12 of the Kyoto Protocol and decisions of the Conference of the Parties (COP), the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties (COP/MOP) and the Executive Board.

Wherever possible, rules and decisions are reproduced in this site in full text.  If you wish to view the original documents on the UNFCCC website, visit the relevant "Related rules/decisions" page in each section, and click the hyperlinks.

The CDM Rulebook allows you to navigate through the project cycles of all project types.  The following abbreviations are used to refer to these project types:

  • Large-scale (P)
  • Small-scale (SSC)
  • Forestry (A/R)
  • Small-scale forestry (SSC A/R)
  • Programme of Activities (PoA)
  • CDM Programme Activity (CPA)

To use the search function, type the search term into the quick search field in the menu bar, or click Advanced Search to define your search further. You can contain your search to particular sections or project types, or search across the whole site.

Use the A-Z index for a complete listing of useful words and phrases used in the CDM Rulebook.  If you would like to know the meaning of a term not listed in this index, use the "Submit an A-Z item" feedback form to send your request.

The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page is another way to access the information in this site. If you have a question you would like answered, use the "Submit a Question" feedback form to send your request.

Quoted decisions in this site use the following format for abbreviations:

  • 17/CP.7 means decision 17 of the Conference of the Parties (COP) at its 7th meeting
  • 3/CMP.1 means decision 3 of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties (COP/MOP) at its 1st meeting
  • 3/CMP.1, Annex, paragraph 13 means paragraph 13 of the annex to decision 3 of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties (COP/MOP) at its 1st meeting
  • EB 32, paragraph 45 means paragraph 45 of the meeting report of the 32nd meeting of the Executive Board
  • EB 17, Annex 2, paragraph 1 means paragraph 1 of the 2nd annex to the meeting report of the 17th meeting of the Executive Board
