Host Party
Host Party is defined in the CDM Glossary of Terms (Version 03) as follows:
A Party not included in Annex I to the Convention on whose territory the CDM project activity is physically located. A project activity located in several countries has several host Parties. At the time of registration, a Host Party shall meet the requirements for participation as defined in paragraphs 28 to 30 of the CDM modalities and procedures (CDM Glossary of Terms, Version 03).
Therefore, a Host Party is:
- A non-Annex I Party;
- Where a CDM project activity is physically located.
In order to host a CDM project activity, a Party must have established a designated national authority (DNA), and must be a Party to the Kyoto Protocol:
- Parties participating in the CDM shall designate a national authority for the CDM.
- A Party not included in Annex I may participate in a CDM project activity if it is a Party to the Kyoto Protocol (3/CMP.1, Annex, paragraphs 29-30).
